RCD adaptors are the simplest way of power protection for in and around the home or your place of work. They are ideal for lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, or any portable power tool. Ideally you would use an RCD adaptor with any electrical appliance for added protection against fatal electric shocks.
RCD Facts.
There are 2 types of RCD’s: Active and Passive, also termed Latching and Non Latching.
Both types are accepted by British Standards and it is up to the user to choose the type of RCD that is most suitable for their application. If you are unsure always consult an Electrician.
Active (Non Latching) RCD’s switch off if the power to them is turned off. Every time the application is turned off, the RCD will trip and will have to be reset by going to the socket.
Passive (Latching) RCD’s “remember” what state they were in prior to the power being switched off. On the resumption of the power, the power will then continue to be supplied to the appliance; the RCD does not need to be reset.
