Powersafe Powerlock Rotalock Full Set of 5 x 500Amp Panel Source T5 Threaded Post Termination
Since 1994 these types of single pole connectors have been available with a Secondary locking pin to ensure that connectors cannot be accidentally uncoupled under load. The traditional method requires a separate unlocking key to push the secondary locking pin out of its recess, allowing the connectors to be uncoupled. The need for a separate key to unlock is warranted in certain applications but has been found to be a problem in other areas, as the key can be lost and uncoupling is not as rapid as required.
The new Rotalock system provides an excellent solution to this problem. Uncoupling is achieved by simply rotating a coupling ring. When rotated the coupling ring moves in a lateral plane to disengage the locking pin. In this way no separate tools are required for uncoupling.
However, the Rotalock can (where the application requires) be locked by turning two screws on the side of the ring, this will lock the ring open. In this way a tool (screwdriver) will be required to slacken the screws to allow coupling ring to be released before uncoupling the connectors.
So, the system can be used in two distinct ways covering all user requirements.
The coupling ring can also be removed for use in Sequential mating units and can be easily replaced in the unlikely event of breakage.
A) Rapid single-handed unlocking. With no special keys required.
B) Ergonomic hand grip
C) High Impact design
D) Fully matable with all versions
E) Available in Panel and In-Line versions, Source.
F) Can be retrofitted to existing equipment
Phase 3 Powersafe connectors with the Rotalock option are now available. The traditional method of uncoupling Powersafe connectors requires a separate unlocking key to push the spring loaded locking pin out of its recess, thereby allowing the connectors to be uncoupled. With the Rotalock versions, uncoupling is achieved by simply rotating a coupling ring. When rotated the coupling ring moves in a lateral plane to disengage the locking pin.
In this way no separate tools are required for uncoupling. The Rotalock can also be locked in the open position by turning two screws on the side of the ring; locking it in the open position. When this method is used a tool - such as a screwdriver - will be required to uncouple the connectors.
Phase 3 Powersafe Rotalock connectors are not available as an add-on. They must be ordered as a specific version of the connector which contains additional grooves that enable the Rotalock mechanism to function.
